Gary McGuigan has been with the Authority since 1995 starting out in a project management capacity and currently serving as Executive Vice President, leading a team of 30 people in the Capital Projects Division. McGuigan is an engineer with over 30 years of experience in project management of diverse projects ranging up to $150 million. McGuigan is currently managing Project CORE and the $1.1 billion revitalization plan to finance, construct and renovate the Baltimore City Public School system as well as economic projects and studies around the state.

Recent projects and studies include the $130 million Physical Education Complex at Coppin State University, the Baltimore Convention Center/Arena study, the evaluation of Preakness Stakes at Pimlico and the Baltimore Circuit Court initiative. In addition, other completed projects for the Authority include the renovation of the historic Camden Station, the historic Hippodrome Theater, a venue for Broadway shows, a new hotel and conference center in Montgomery County and Ripken Stadium, a minor league ballpark in Aberdeen.

McGuigan’s original project with MSA was the expansion of the Ocean City Convention Center, which was completed on time and under budget. Prior to joining MSA, McGuigan led the design effort for a new high school in Delaware. Prior to 1994, McGuigan worked for the Facilities Development Corporation in Manhattan for eight years focusing on capital projects on psychiatric center campuses.

McGuigan is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and holds the LEED AP credential.

Al Tyler is currently a Vice President, in the Capital Projects Development Group at the Maryland Stadium Authority, with over 20 years of experience in project management. Since joining the Authority in 2013, Tyler has managed many highly visible and time sensitive construction projects and feasibility studies for local municipalities and state agencies including the recent Pimlico Race Course Studies, Fair Hill Special Event Zone, and the Ocean City Convention Center Expansion.

Prior to joining the Authority, Tyler held leadership roles at Kimball Construction Company and The Whiting Turner Contracting Company which included work at the Camden Yards Sports Complex. Tyler earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications at Towson University, a Masters of Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland, and an Associates of Arts in Construction Technology from the Community College of Baltimore County where he served as an adjunct instructor of project management from 2009 to 2019. Tyler recently completed the prestigious Leadership Maryland program.

What is the Annual Meeting?

ASA of Baltimore holds its Annual Meeting every June, toward the end of its fiscal/membership year (July to June).  Annual meetings feature speakers, the recognition of members and volunteers, and include a full dinner and an open bar.  The purposes of the Annual Meeting include, (a) informing the membership regarding the prior year’s activities and financial performance, (b) recognizing members, leaders, and staff for their contributions, (c) describing the plans of the chapter and ASA National for the coming year, and (d) providing valuable strategic insights regarding the status of the commercial construction industry in Maryland.

Food & Beverages

The Annual Meeting includes dinner, soft drinks, and an open bar.

Sponsorships

Sponsorships include one or more tickets and may be purchased at any time up to one week prior to the Annual Meeting in order to allow time for the design and printing of the sponsor’s sign.

When Can I Register?

Registrations for the Annual Meeting are available for six weeks prior to the Annual Meeting, up to the end of the day prior to the event
